GP08

talking about my General elective (GE) class... i thought it'd be a boring class.. but it turned out fine... fun... cool! ^_^ hehehe... maybe becoz our lecturer (ms Lee) is a fun person, or maybe becoz the people in the course are the keen learners, maybe becoz the class is small, maybe we made the best out of it n it worked? i duno... wadever it is, i somehow like the class! ^_^

since itz a small class (11 people!) each one of us at least go for 2 presentations oredi O_o' wait2.. presentations are kinda informal, fun, full of laughter and questions from teachers and the floor.. but itz not so intimidating now that i know the people more... also, it is her style of teaching of interchanging case studies, presentation, 'games' etc....

my course is 'managing change through project management'... n this course is NOT as easy as u thought... it might sound 'common sensical..' but nopez.. loadza things u need to learn.. there are certain terms u need to know... eniwei... there's one game that she gave us, about 'THE girl and the sailor'.. this story goes something like this:

there r 5 players... a sailor, an oldman, a girl, girl's fiance, and fiance's best fren were on a ship.. due to storm, they climbed up to 2 life-boats.. 1 life-boat contained the sailor, oldman and the girl.. while the other one girl's fiance and the bestfriend... the life-boat with the sailor, cast away to an island... the next morning, the girl looked to the other side of the island n saw another island.. she was sure that the fiance would be on that island..... So, she persuaded the sailor to repair the boat so tat she could go to the other side n find her fiance.... the sailor agreed on one condition that is, she had to sleep with him... she was confused, and asked the old man for advice.. the old-man said 'i cannot tell u wadz bez for u... juz follow ur heart'.... the girl then made decision and slept with the sailor...

the next morning, the sailor repaired the boat and sailed to the opposite island with the girl... true enough, the fiance was there.. after reconcilation with the fiance, she told him wad happened last night... the fiance pushed her away n said 'dun talk to me! how could u do such a thing...' the girl was sad, turned away n walked alone.... the fiance's bestfren saw this n came to her, put his arms around her n said 'i know u two had a fight... i'll try to patch up... in the meanwhile, i'll take care of you'...............

we were asked to prioritize which character we like best to the least.... n she divided us into groups and asked us to AGAIN prioritize as a group...... O_o' tatz the toughest part.... tho there's no right or wrong answer from this group, we could see that our each perception is different, and that to AGREE to other's perception could be hard... especially for people like vincent... he was the only guy in our group, and had the MOST different thought than the rest of us... hehe tho he accepted our group prioritizing.... it might be becoz 'itz juz a gameeeee' but yea.. real life it'd be harder... especially when any CHANGE would CHANGE our jobs...

more that she had was the leadership case study..., communication.... etc etc.. i thought it was fun... n juz this morning, she had mr.Toh (well.. everyone starting to call him mr.Toh.. coz he was late for the 2nd class... n ms Lee called him mr.Toh.. so all of us know him as mr.Toh.. n not kuan chee..) gave discription and all of us supposed to draw wadever he asked us to draw.. i had this 'test' back in ateja while going thru training... k Donny was the trainer n it shows how communication could be misleading when people interpret it differently... well.. as for mr.Toh, he was marvellous!! his description was clear n most of us got the picture right.... well done mr.Toh! he was like aching to use his hands.. body gestures... n stuff like that... but it was ofcoz prohibited... well2... he IS funny guy... v gentlemanly... n smart too... ms Lee (i think) especially likes him.. coz he's light-mood and comical.....

eniwei... did i tell u that this class... out of 11, there are 4 computer engineers? and 1 computer science? so itz basically HALF!! of the class! cool, eh? :p hehehe well.. we've got our own 'project of 'applying conflict management' skill in our project group... hehe.. itz that china guy who apparently couldnt understand what we are doing n why we are doing our report this way... he was kinda pissed off in our first meeting... but on 2nd meeting, when we start moving on managing the change n how to go about blablabal, he started to get interested and quite eager to finish the project :p hehe... good job people.. all thx to my team-mates calista and vincent whom tried so hard to be bi-lingual... english to me, and chinese to shao jiong.. hehe.... rili great to be in their group! especially when they're all eager to give the best shot for the project! ^_^
