Euthanasia..

When I was in JC, one of the topic for GP was 'euthanasia' or Good death.... one of the topics that i dont really know how to go against it... Thru my J1, i alwiz OPPOSED euthanasia despite of all the 'pros' of euthanasia... Even though my conclusion would be somehow torn between pros n against, "euthanasia or good death might be seen as playing God, but given circumstances, this concept allows people to die with dignity by terminating his/her suffering on earth.", my personal view is NO!!! euthanasia is not not not not not not not not not not not THE solution...

However... last week, Iv got news from my aunt that a member of my church congregation was in coma.... here's the story:

He n his wife adopted a child many years back.. The boy was never a good boy.. he was super hyper n iritating when he was young... n in his early childhood, we almost never seen him in church... His mum passed away few years back.. so he was living with his dad only. They are quite poor, but his dad is someone that we all respect in church... He is a strong believer and always come for prayer meeting earlier than any other people to prepare for stuff they would need...

eniweiz.... the boy is now in his late teens.. n apparently he's into drugs n smoke n.... sex? O_o' rumour said that he made a maid *not his maid* pregnant... n well... he is always in need of money... he went to his dad's frens in church to get $$... to our preacher, he said that his BORROWED motorcycle is spoilt... no $ to fix... borrow 500K rupiah... to my aunt, said his BORROWED hp spoilt... borrow 100k... then to our evangelist, he said something else... she wanted to help, but she had no money.. so she consulted our preacaher.. n our preacher said 'dun give'... so they boy was frustrated n never appeared in church...

one sundy morning, he suddenly came back home demanding for money to his dad.. his dad might or might not have $ with him.. apparently the boy got angry n fought his poor dad... in the end, he took this stone we usually use to grind spices.. n hit his dad on the head....... then back to smoking his cigarettes

His dad's relatives who stayed nearby heard something n came over to check.. the daddy was already on the floor, fresh blood covering him.. the boy? sitting nearby calmly smoking.... the relative got shocked and asked 'wad hapen to dad!' the boy only gave a glance n said 'duno..' *I FEEL LIKE SMACKING THE BOY RIGHT NOW1!!!* so everyone was busy evacuating him to hospital... the boy was arested..!

Well... hospital bill is never cheap especially when one fell into a coma... 4million rupiah a day... n there is no guarantee of him being able to be well again... Everyone in church gave their best to help with funds.. n euthanasia came to minds... if only those life support equipment was cut off, he'd definitely die... but then, being a more conscious and traditional indonesian, they said it's taboo...

I always opposed euthanasia as i believe in miracles... God could bring someone back to life, heal any sickness... but when reality strikes, my believe starts to shake.... if that uncle really came back to life, wouldnt he be so so so sad... His one and only *adopted* child did that to him O_o'... n well... he has noone to take care of him in his old age.... devastating O_o'!!! n what about the medical bills? my small church could do its best...but couldnt really cover everything, can we?

so for once, i felt that.... for his own sake.. maybe those life supports should be terminated... They didnt take out all the equipment and just let him die, mind you!! they just prayed for the best... n God took him away last sunday.........

Very poor thing, eh? the policemen were quite worked up with the boy's dad's death news.. They brought him to the funeral and made him look at his dad... n guess wad? he didnt give a damn... not even a tinge of regret or sadness that the policemen were so darn angry with him....

God gives, God takes away........... euthanasia?? maybe yes, maybe no...... maybe......
