IA...

kinda expected tat i'd write on this topic, right? wad can i say.. =p hehehe.. Im now surrounded by the most intelligent people from all over singapore *n the world*... my colleagues are all smart people.. they are confident, smart and beautiful... hey.. i kinda expected the department to be dull *technical people sometimes ARE dull, right?* but they are NOT!! they're fun people.. laughing and joking around.. but when it comes to work, they are very focus...
We are given liberty of internet and msn.. n yet.. i dont think anyone took it for granted.. they use the resources to find out more on the project they're working for.. which kinda influenced me.. i dont browse unneccessary things during office hour.. unless it's lunch time which took only a few minutes to browse through them... n get back to 'work'...
Environment wise... EY is very cozy.. in a way that everyone sits around this big long table.. i guess the presence of me n weihan *another intern from NTU- comp engin* complicated their sitting arrangement.. =p they had to squeeze with each other in order to give both of us space to work.. hehe.... there are a lotttt of managers around.. but you wont be able to tell the difference which are the partners, managers, senior consultants or consultants.. We go for lunch together *not the partners*... sitting together.. eating together.. talking to each other using their first names... i was assigned to a 'buddy',.. a very chirpy n cute girl called claudean *if i dun spell her name wrongly..*.. she's the one that's suppose to take care of me and whom i go to when i want more info about EY... I didnt find trouble in calling her name, because she looks quite young.. other collagues also look quite young.. maybe the oldest is about 30?? The managers are also young people.. i was expecting old man and lady with streaks of silver hair to prove 'experience' but i guess i was wrong.. i was introduced to a whole bunch of managers which, to my opinion, looked so young as compared to the managers in Ateja...
Again, the managers are very friendly.... we go for lunch together... WHICH never happened before in ateja!! usualy managers would sit with the directors in a small cozy room with their own culinary set.. but NO! the managers in EY eats with us at laupasat.... hehee.. im nt rili accustomed to that yet.. especially calling their first name.. their names just dont come out... maybe a 'koko' or 'jiejie' before their first names would be better.. but everyone seemed to care about title... nice, eh??
About work.. me n weihan are supposed to make survey engine, something like survey monkey, which meets the sets of requirements from EY.. had 1 week to come out with the designing plan.. Yesterday we had meeting with a manager.. n the way he talked to us is REALLY like a manager.. *well... ateja's manager didnt rili give me a good charisma* but this manager in EY does!! He's very kind, and took us seriously.. He also let us make our own decision.. which, im very grateful of! Other company might not do so.. right?
The other manager who is actually in charge of us, is not available at the moment.. he went somewhere for work.... he already gave us a set of deadlines for the project... 1st design plan was last week *this week i mean*, 1st prototype is next 2 weeks, and the 1st version should be somewhere in the middle of march... when he set the deadline, he told us right away that if we cant meet the deadline, we can just tell him.. he told us 'u r not slave.. u r intern!' i think those words warms me... n yesterday, the manager who met with us told us the same thing.. he was saying something like 'you might not do OT... if u cant meet the deadline, just tell us..'.. as compared to venny's n alex's experience of given either nothing or too much to do with weird deadlines... something like 'can u finish it by today!' it's a '!' and not '?'....
well2.. back to the manager who is away.. he gave us his msn.. n yesterday, he talked to me on msn.. i mean really 'small talk'.. nothing about work at all.. aint it nice?
Another thing i noticed... the meeting... everyone seemed to be at ease about the meeting.. we all went to the meeting room, and given breakfast =p hehe.. so during the meeting everyone was drinking coffee, tea.. but still focus.. everyone seemed to have things to say.. and not afraid to say it... compared to the previous company i worked for, everyone seemed to be dreading their way to the meeting.. n when the director spoke, everyone was silent.. n when asked for opinion, everyone was silent... no one dared to joke around or anything.. so different.. i guess culture really DO shape people in the organisation, eh? Im grateful that im in a very nice organisation *although their business-attire-only bugs me.. sobz... I MISS MY JEANSSSS huhuh!*...
additional *ga penting* info: husen msn me the other day, saying that there'll be a prayer meeting or fellowship meeting for the bandung-nians... huehue.. n my old boss would be there ^_^ hehehehhee..... coo
