The lost phone saga

sorry for taking over this 'story' from marlin.... let me tell the story frm my perspective, alright?



[Two to three months months ago]..

Marlin's dad's frend went back to Indo.. leaving behind his precious phone 'dibetulin' in Singapore.. Marlin was supposed to collect it before she went back home.. with $4,000 (the cost of 'reparation') on hand, she marched in to VERTU and was told that the phone would be shipped back to singapore in about er.. 6 weeks time..? (FYI: 6 weeks from then was about the last weeks of my IA..)




by the 6th week.. the phone was still not ready... so marlin decided to go back before the phone is back..



[25th June 2007]
Marlin, her siblings and friends left palm garden for Malaysia... VERTU phone was left in Singapore... the group thought they should just ask someone else to 'escort' the phone back to surabaya..



[28th June 2007]
Marlin's mum scolded her and insisted that marlin should take the phone and let her sister bring it back to indo.. if you are wondering why her mum insist that marlin takes the phone no matter what, it's because the phone is worth $XX,XXX... tat'z right F I V E digits.. =.='.. and hence, it's quite a heavy responsibility.. and it's also quite dangerous to let someone - who is not entrusted by the owner - take the phone back to surabaya..




So marlin went back to Singapore on coach.. asking me to book the earliest coach to kuala lumpur on 29th june.., but she feels that the price is too high.. she said she's gona take chances, and would be taking coach from JB instead..



I went out.. and reached home around 11pm.. marlin smsed me, asking me to check her room for the phone, coz her mum got worried..



Nothing on her shelf.. I smsed her.. n she might be thinking (I was also thinking) that nata just dont' know how to spot things...



But since her mum insisted, marlin smsed me AGAIN giving me more description of the phone.. black pouch... n things... i went to her room again.. NOTHING.. by this time i had bad feeling that the phone is not ANYWHERE in the house.. so i smsed her again, telling her to calm down... n think properly where the phone is.. marlin's reply becomes 'stacatto-ized'..



marlin: ''di meja blajar? nothing? im just trying to recall where is it. dd gw yg taruh soalnya"
nata looked for it again.. n still... nothing..
marlin: "cloth item. slim, tinggi, setebel dopod. ya uda ga kliatan gpp. bobo aje" [but she was still in denial.. that nata cant look for things properly]



so nata went to sleep...

75% unconscious when she heard some 'little noises' outside.. in her dreams, marlin n yusof went off for the earliest coach as planned...



when she woke up..

the house was soo still.. lights were on.. the dining area was havoc.. the storage under the vodka display was wide opened..... like the house were raided by some thieves last night.. but no noises.. I went to the living room.. n called for marlin.. but i saw the cabinet under the TV was ON THE FLOOR.. u know wad i mean? as in it was taken OUT of their skeleton... messy.. messy.. havoc O_o; I saw k yusof on the sofa.. looking like a shag.. i asked him whether they found the hp.. n he gave me forced-sour-smile and shook his head slowly...



bad news.. i know...


I went to marlin's room.. n knocked.. the answer i got was a very weak.. 'yea...' from marlin... her room was no better.. drawers taken out of her closet... her piles of clothes were on the bed...... i asked silly question 'didnt find it?' she let a heavy sigh..... and told the whole story..



Her siblings asked her to bring the vertu phone on her pocket.. she put the phone just beside the wallet so that she'd remember before she left.. but some incidents happened that 25th morning that makes everyone's mind NOT on the vertu... marlin cldnt even remember whether she SAW the phone when she grabbed her wallet before she left... man....



k Yusof came in and we had some 'desperate' conversation about the phone.. they told me they PLANNED to just come home, take the phone and the other 3 items left in the house and head back to KL.. but apparently the whole dawn they ransacked the whole house.. full-of-energy, at first... after an hour, they went 'lemes' and desparately searching every spot in the house even the FRIDGE o_O'... marlin's water bottle, pencil case.., laundry piles.. u name it.. they're THAT desperate.. i guess everyone WOULD be that desperate too.. if u lost someone else's 5-digit-worth thing......



Apparently marlin's brother was assigned task to notify their parents.. *shudder*.. their dad asked them to buy a new phone.. when they ask the price, it costs $5,000 more expensive..!! well.. luckily (if you can consider this as 'lucky'), their dad's friend intended to sell the phone.. so they only need to pay him the 'old price..'



marlin n yusof planned the arrangements.. like making statement to police, called the vertu representative to notify them the particular of the lost verty..etc,etc... so sad hor T.T..... 5 digits gone just like that.. k yusof was commenting that with that amount, we could get a car in indo.... man..... holiday turned disaster




Before leaving for police station, marlin asked me to accompany her to KL.. coming back to sg the next day.. well.. true that i have nothing to do.. n i thought she might need some company.. so i was contemplating to go... haha..



they headed for police station, it was still closed.. so they decided to go for lunch first... then 1 sms came...




Hpnya ktm!! keselip di antara bh dd gua..




Songs of joy.. trumpets and drums... well.. yea.. they found it... dot..
haha.... itz quite a drama.... =.=;!



marlin told me that EVERYONE thought that the phone is left in sg.. so they didnt check their own luggages before marlin n k yusof headed back to singaproe... S I L L Y........ =.=;



But then again.. i guess marlin owe me a treat for making me sooo worried... i mean come on... $XX,XXX.- phone is lost in THIS house.. =s!!
