Swan Lake

*glide glide glide....* smoothly on a 15mx15m ice on stage.... glideee glideee glideee...

it was SUPERB! it's almost like fairy tale come true in reality *_*

I bought the DVD.. hehee.. so if anyone wants to watch, feel free to borrow (jangan di copy d yakh.. ga enak) huehuee..

hm.. how to start the review...

This is my 2nd time watching on theatre.. no doubt I was super excited.. I know swan lake since i was primary school.. coz my cousin likes to gather us, the younger cousins around for a cozy 'family' bonding time.. by that time i didnt know english (duh).. n then.. it goes on that i read comics! mari-chan.. lovely mari-chan.. silver-toe-shoes mari-chan.. all mari-chan series (and any other ballet-themed comics) would have swan lake..

SO i know more about swan lake.. about odette (the pretty princess who was cursed to be swan) and odile (the black swan) were two MAIN characters in swan lake... nywaes..

The story

odette was betrothed to this prince siegfried (i tot its derrek or derick.. wakaka..) since they were young.. but they never got along (this is from the movie i watched hor).. until one day before his 21st bdae, they met again.. both grown up.. and they fell in love at first sight.... So.. siegfried kinda have his heart set on odette.. So when Rothbart came forward and offered his ugly looking girl to siegfried, the prince declined..

The first scene was Siegfried and his friend (forgot wad his name) playing with 3 very cute 'pengawal'.. then the prince was introduced to eligible ladies.. The queen herself made him danced with the girls.. but no.. he refused.. no no no.. not these girls.. please... soo cutee ^_^;

Im nt sure about meeting Odette in her human form..

Rothbart came to the party and brought along Odile.. (she doesnt look ugly.. her skating was really2 smooth.. confident.. and seductive) but Siegfried refused her.. 'NO mom.. i dont want Odile too' hahaa..

Rothbart was angry n he cursed odette who was on the way home to be a swan.. n can only change to her true form whenever there's moonlight.. the way to break the curse is to be rescued by a man's undying love (copied from the swan lake dvd =p)..

Not sure how it was portrayed in the theatre tho..

The prince and his friend went to hunt.. n they saw a flock of swan.. when they wanted to shoot, the swan ranaway and luckily the moon shone.. so she changed to her true form again.. Siegfried learnt that Rothbart placed the curse upon Odette n so he promised her to marry her on his bdae..

The prince went to hunt with his friends.. (at this part, only half of the stage was used for them skating).. and they saw a flock of swan... so beautiful at the other half of the stage covered with another layer of cloth.. they were dancing... soo beautiful under the stars.. very very enchanting, indeed.. i held my breath when they showed this part.. really really serene.....

Siegfried gave Odette a ring.. and in return.. Odette gave him.. A FEATHER! XD!! dodolz =p! but it was super nice.. especially when they're skating together.. the song is soooo byutiful.. n Odette really looked like she was flying (n indeed she flew..!!)

Too bad Rothbart overheard.. he took away Siegfried's ring from Odette and locked Odette up... while he adakadabra his ugly daughter to look exactly like Odette but in black dress...

On his bdae, Siegfried didnt notice that it was Odile (n because Odile had his ring!) so he announced that Odile would be his bride.. meanwhile, Odette still in the form of swan, flew to the palace and witnessed the announcement.. Luckily enough, Siegfried saw her.. n he realized he had made a mistake..

The Prince bdae ball! grand grand grand!! The queen's dress was magnificent!! huehuee.. there were few guests who came and showcased their dances.. first was yellow couple.. very very merry dance... next was blue-black dress (i can only differentiate the dances thru the colour! yea).. then the red dress couple.. hot hot very hot!! They were really good!! Then the blue-white couple.. this one very sweet and ^_^.. lastly.. white couple.. their dance was graceful... n at some point of time they off the lights.... we only see white figures dancing endlessly on the stage...

Then Odile and Rothbart came.. Siegfried looked like he KNEW he is supposed to be waiting for Odette.. but in the end he proposed to Odile eniweis (blo'on guy) then the two parents (the queen and rothbart) danced happily... enjoying the night.. n yea.. Odette appeared.. n heartbroken when she saw the ring on Odile's finger... (did i mention that Odette was very expressive in her movement?)

Siegfried finally realized he made mistake.. he chased after Odette.. but she ran away.. so he too was heartbroken.. he slumped.. (sobz)

Rothbart appeared and forced Siegfried to be true to his word.. Odile changed back to her original ugly form.. Siegfried ran to the wood to chase Odette.. whom (if im nt wrong) wld die bcause of Siegfried's betrayal..

Rothbart forced Siegfried to be true to his word.. Odile was blocking Siegfried's way to the exit.. But Siegfried managed to get out to the woods O_o;

meanwhile, Odette was confronted by Rothbart (duno y).. She almost wanted to kill herself.. O_o' Siegfried appeared again... trying to chase Odette again.. but again and again Odette ran away... (sakit ati kli yakh..)... from here onwards, Siegfried is more expressive.. his movement is more dramatized.....

Odile appeared.. the 3 of them danced together... A man's dream came true.. he was in the middle of two beautiful swan.... their dances really really looks like accrobat..!! it was cool.. =D

then.. duno y.. Odile gave Odette the ring back (HEH??) then the two lovebirds danced together to the tune where they first met again... awhhhhhhh

Rothbart came in between.. Battle between Prince and Evil... n finally the Evil died.. The moon shone on Odette n TADAAAAA Odette is back to her pretty self.. n they live happily ever after.. the end.. huehueee

Rothbart and his evil 'companies' appeared again... Siegfried and Rothbart jousted on the stage.. again, i say.. siegfried really really expressive at the last few scenes... he was full of enegry when he jousted... really feels like he's gona draw Rothbart's blood... n yea.. finally Rothbart was killed.... n they live happily ever after.... *selamatttt* ^_^

There were many younger audiences (read: little girls.. giggling and shouting and danced around during the performance) O_o' GRRR but.. alright lagh.. I think they were awed too.. =D hehee.. i was saying that i might need to get a little girl as a 'reason' that i go to these kind of performances, that the 'little girl' wants to watch.. (when it actually means ME!) huehuee... marlin gladly lent me her niece.. wakaka... but after much thinking.. $84 is too expensive ba =p hehee....

The songs.. please the songs.. i need the songs.... huehue.. i have 'run' the dvd 2x since saturday wakaka.. as in i just let it play in the background while i listen to their songs... n bcoz of THIS swan lake on ice... i searched high and low in youtube for disney on ice!!! my gosh.. haha... i think im sane enough that im nt interested watching the disney on ice (for nowwww...) =p!!!

Did i mention that the main characters (odette, odile, siegfried, rothbart and the prince's friends) are from www.imperialicestars.com and they have won MANY MANY medals in the olympics!! wheww.... *standing applause* hebat2.. ^_^
